FPAN EAST CENTRAL REGION'S "IN THE DIRT" LECTURE SERIES RETURNS!

The "In The Dirt..." lecture series returns to the BCC Titusville Campus for the Fall 2009 semester!  The Fall 2009 series will feature four lectures given by Dr. Rachel Wentz and will focus on how Native Americans utilized the substantial resources available to them throughout Florida's various ecosystems.  There will also be another Halloween special this year, so don't forget to dress up!  Hope to see you all there!

In The Dirt Fall 2009

FPAN EAST CENTRAL REGION PRESENTS: BONE DIGGERS - A KIDS' CAREER CAMP

What is it like to be an archaeologist?  Why do we dig for bones?  What do the artifacts mean today?  Using a hands-on approach, kids will learn the answers to these questions in a fun and highly interactive archaeology program where they will explore the skills needed for a career in archaeology.  For grades 4 - 6.  Cost is $65.

FPAN EAST CENTRAL REGION TO OFFER FREE TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOPS THIS SUMMER!

These workshops will focus on providing teachers with new fun and informative tools for making archaeology an exciting addition to their classroom curriculums.  There will be two sessions held: June 9th and July 28th.  And the part is... they're FREE!!

FPAN EAST CENTRAL REGION TO HOST CIG CERTIFICATION COURSE!

The National Association for Interpretation offers this course for those who wish to become Certified Interpretive Guides. The course will be held in the FPAN East Central Office (Bldg 1; 214 at the BCC Campus in Titusville)  on July 6-9, 2009. Cost is $370 for the training and the certification, and is open the public (ages 16+).

"DIRT ON FILM" SERIES MOVES TO MELBOURNE!"

The "Dirt on Film" series, the newest additon to the FPAN 'Dirt Club', is moving to Melbourne for the summer.   We will be screening some great documentaries on local archaeology followed by discussions about the documentaries topic.  This series will take the place during the summer of 2009 on the BCC Campus in Melbourne.

K-12 ARCHAEOLOGY CURRICULUM

One of FPAN's goals is to get into the classroom and foster an appreciation for Florida's archaeology at an early age.  Our Outreach Coordinator, Tim Brock, works on getting out and into the classroom.  He provides in-class presentations, artifact demonstrations, and teacher training workshops.  FPAN also provides archaeology educational materials for teachers. Please Contact Nathan Lawres for K-12 educational needs.
